Not a good idea if you turn the printer off as it will then be assigned a new IP address and your computers will not be able to print to it...Overall when compared to the HP and Brother multifunction laserjet machines the Canon comes out on top - at least at this time...I say at this time as in 6 months Brother may have new models without the fan problem and they would be a good buy if that happens...

Scanning software and procedure is TERRIBLE! You need to start the scanner software, then for each sheet you must press the scan button on the printer TWICE! What a bother...When it does this it stops the printer from going into powersave mode, so I guess you may as well have thrown out that perfectly good toner cartridge and make a premature donation to Canon for all the money you'll save...I expect I'll just juse this as a fax and copier and buy something else to scan documents with...
