The Canon 4690 offers the most technology for this price level...Canon says the unit will automatically pick up the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address using DHCP, but a call to Canon Tech Services recommended manual entry of these values...It's not bad that the unit can't do Mac scanning but I'd rather know about that BEFORE I purchase it and set it up at home...

I have a Canon ImageClass MF4690 Printer/Fax/Copier/Scanner installed on a small network connected to 2 computers operating Windows XP Pro SP2 by means of a hardwired LinkSys router...The printer works fine for the most part, except that I cannot get it to send a scanned file to a shared folder on a targeted computer...I am guessing this is some kind of subtle network, NetBEUI, or SMB configuration problem...
