Dakota 10 works for me by James E. Steiner on amazon.com Apr 28, 2012
I bought the Garmin Dakota 10 for as much as the Dakota 20 sells for now :( but that is the price for being 'first on your block' yes in hindsight I think the 20 may be worth the extra money but for me the D-10 is really cool along with loaded street ...

Excellent for Geocaching. by Steve877 on bestbuy.com May 7, 2011
About a month ago my family took up the hobby of geocaching. (Some people call it a sport, but I am not one of them.) If you are not familiar with the term, please check out www.geocaching.com and learn a little. Once you try it you will quickly become ...

Dakota 20 is the best choice - Plus it uses free OpenStreetMaps by John Bean "beaner" on amazon.com Nov 10, 2011
The Dakota 20 is a great little unit, (WITH ONE BIG PROBLEM) if you get it at a good price. I bought a Dakota 10 first but after finding out it would only hold half the U. S. street map disk that came with it and the little bike mount was unsuitable for ...

Garmin Dakota 10 by Theron C. Hall on amazon.com Mar 24, 2011
The Garmin Dakota 10 is a fantastic color touch screen GPS. It is small enough to stuff in your pocket and yet big enough so that you can adequately see the screen. The only downfall to this product as far as I can see is that the compass feature is ...

Pleasantly surprised. by Jon Mohr on amazon.com Mar 21, 2011

Tried twice. Broke Twice. by Kattiebird on amazon.com May 29, 2012
I really liked this GPS. It was small and had the touch screen to make for easy use. I do a lot of cycling, so the bike bundle was perfect. The first one I bought worked great, up until the night before a large cycling tour that was about 400 miles long. ...

All those units seems to cease working by huxfluxfux on amazon.com Feb 19, 2012

Carefull with this gps by Denis on amazon.com Aug 25, 2011
This unit does not have a SD memory slot. This limits the type of maps available to use. This is not explained to well with the product description. Garmin is too proprietary and I wasted a lot of time learning this.

Not impressed at all by Scott Beckius "Texas Outlaw" on amazon.com May 6, 2010
I purchased this unit after reading all of the glowing reviews. We wanted to use it for geocaching but alas, the unit will not acquire satelites. It chewed up a set of lithium batteries and never did lock on. The instructions say that it might take a ...

Have to buy software to use this! by T-mo customer on amazon.com May 6, 2010
The map this unit comes with is VERY basic! It has only major highways. So right out of the box this unit is useless for any type of navigation, especially outdoors. Garmin wants you to buy maps from them! Even though you can find them and download some ...

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Garmin Dakota 20 Waterproof Hiking GPS
The D20 navigation overall is more pleasing to the eye...While it was quite unfortunate I dropped the hCX in the lake, the D20 has proven to be a suitable upgrade and replacement...The Geomate got great reviews and the most reasonably priced of the group, but it's only good for one thing, geocaching, tho it does it well...

Garmin Dakota 20 Handheld GPS Navigator review - Peripheral - Trusted Reviews
It’s called the Dakota, and this week we’re looking at the current flagship, the Dakota 20...We also found the Dakota a bit more sluggish zooming and scrolling these bitmap-based maps than the Oregons we’ve tested, whilst the lower resolution made it noticeably harder to get an overall idea of the surrounding terrain...So although the Dakota 20 would not make a particularly good in-car sat-nav, it shouldn’t take you down any dead ends when on foot...

Garmin Dakota 20 GPS Review heavy picture warning - ETS Forums
One thing where the Dakota seems to be an improvement over other touchscreen units is the excellent battery life, up to 20 hrs so not much worse than the plain eTrex HCx series...I agree on the screen visibility issues, the backlight is weaker than other units and the reflectivity of the screen is not as good as the 60csx (and based on your review the eTrex) under bright light...

Garmin Dakota 20 2.6-Inch Touchscreen Handheld GPS Navigator Price Features Specs...
Finally I got the Dakota 20 at the REI Sale, last week...I expected so much more from it and from Garmin (I have a GPS for driving which is pretty good, but it seems that the formula wasn’t repeated in the handheld product...Garmin should know that people that buy this kind of device are expecting something good – they might have awesome hardware, but it lacks good software...I just received my new Dakota 20 and plan to use it primarily for geocaching...At this point I would not recommend the Dakota series to anyone...

Very good reception of signal and compact size...The electronic compass has been more valuable that I initially expected, glad that I picked the 20 over the Dakota 10...After my Dakota 20 was updated from v3.1 to v3.8 by webUpdater with a 4G SD card inside the unit, the map page became completely dark...The product quality is really too bad based on my experience and the information on web...
