Forcetrx 401 Review by Timmy on amazon.com May 14, 2012
Great little tool here for knowing your exact location. For such a small device, it gives you an accurate grid within 10 or so meters. In addition, satellite pickup is extremely fast, allowing you to turn it on and within seconds have your location. The ...

All in one for military or trekkers. by BestBuyUser01 on bestbuy.com Sep 7, 2011
Great for hiking in desert, mountain, forest, or jungle. Small and compact it goes everywhere you go or the mission takes you. It does use Military Grid Reference System as well as many other location tracking units. In summary, the best wrist top GPS ...

Great product by Troy on amazon.com May 2, 2012
I am currently deployed in Afghanistan and do a lot of dismounted patrols. I saw that there were a lot of people around with different types of GPS systems. I decided to go with this one and am not the slightest bit disappointed. It is small and fits ...

Unit has a bug in user grid / datum by A. Gil on amazon.com Jun 21, 2010
Great unit, if you don't need user grid. If you do, there is a bug in the algorithm that can results in displaying wrong coordinates. I measured an error of more than 240ft (around 70m). Note that this happens with SW version 2.30 released around May, ...

Good concept, poor satellite link by wasabi on newegg.com Nov 18, 2010
I think this unit should also have a way to use the ant-pod for training, it will be also nice to be able to monitor pace on each mile / whatever pre-set distance.

user manual and the rest by david du roy on amazon.com Apr 29, 2011
For someone who is comfy to handle GPS apparels, this particular item offers very, very little in term of use + battery life is quite short: I use triple A Sanyo Enneloop, arguably the best on the market + this item is hard to get the batteries in. Sorry, ...

worst garmin foretrex ever by Michael S McKinley on amazon.com Aug 23, 2010
This should have been the foretrex 101 you cannot download tracks to The Garmin Center or Google earth it did not recognize either of my Garmin Heart Monitors. I feel that Garmin should have a recall of this model and refunded the purchase price. I am very sorry that I purchased it.

Very poor instructions and assistance. by J. Sizelove "J Size" on amazon.com May 3, 2010
I purchased this product a month ago and I have tried to use it on several occasions to track my routes so that I can download them to see what we were doing regarding speed at various points along the route. The only thing that I have been able to do ...

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Garmin Foretrex 401 Waterproof Hiking GPS
I would definitely recommend it for whatever purpose you would use it for...Enjoy your hike! Buy one of these before Garmin changes it to something confusing and not so good...There's really no good reason for this, although asking questions on the Garmin forum largely suffices for this oversight on Garmin's part...

Garmin Foretrex 401 Reviews
Initial use of the 401 was as advertised---quick fixes, many features, batteries--lots of good stuff---however, when you dig deeper into its features that are not covered by the very inadequate pdf manual it would seem the program designers and the tech writers never talked to each other...The 396 manual also barely touches the many features of the unit, just like the 401...One of my Foretrex101s expired a few weeks ago and I decided to replace it with the just released Foretrex401...The 401 had no trouble picking up the HR reading and displaying the values...

Garmin Foretrex 301 and 401 | GPS Tracklog
Apparently there is still money to be made in the entry-level handheld GPS market – the Garmin Foretrex 301 and 401 are being announced this morning...The units, weighing an incredibly light 3 ounces, are powered by three AAA batteries, lasting up to 18 hours in the 301 and 17 hours in the 401...I came to the conclusion that the Foretrex 301 may be a good and cost-effective solution...

Looks like Garmin has even more in the series coming out soon, 101, 201, 301, 401...However, looks like the 301 and 401 won't be available until 3rd quarter, which I guess could be anytime between 7/1 and 9/30...If you bought the 101 and upgraded to the two devices to support USB, you'd be up to the price of the 301 and you are still lacking high sensitivity...From a resale, asset appreciation viewpoint, the 301 is the way to go hands down...

UrbanTick: New Garmin Foretrex 301/401
Garmin® Announces Rugged, Waterproof Foretrex® 401 and 301, Wearable Navigation that’s Easy to Use in Tough Conditions...They where really good devices and probably some o the first handheld GPS that where actually useable...Which is all right, as the screen quality is good and if you want a coloured feature map you probably buy another device...Both models 301 and 401 will work on two AA batteries, with is a shame...
