Great Gps by good on amazon.com May 14, 2012
When I first got the 24k maps with it, I was disappointed until I learned about mytrails which over laps 24k and shows every trail I have ever been on in Colorado. They also turn up in red so they are easy to read. The GPS is easy to use. I have not had ...

Does what it says it does by Tramper on newegg.com Aug 31, 2010
Over all I would say this is a great GPS for highly tech-O types. I download all my walks into a program on my computer to map out where, how long, altitude climb; etc. For the price you want to uses all the balls and whistles but you can also just ...

Great unit by Cut Co2 on amazon.com May 7, 2012
This is a great little unit. Yes the menus get a little frustrating, but they all do. The best thing to do is set up your own profile page, nice option. I've used it on a couple of long hikes and it tracked perfectly and turned on quickly. I upload my ...

Excellent GPS by Mabodomoca on amazon.com May 7, 2012
Upgraded from a Garmin GPS 60. This device is (of course) far superior. Excellent receptivity and accuracy. It is very user friendly and has many features. I have not used them all yet, but so far, I am totally satisfied with the device. The 3D view is ...

On third unit in less than 5 months-think before buy. by Eileen Valachovic on amazon.com May 8, 2012
This unit was a Christmas present for husband. He didn't use right away. First unit consistently killed one battery. When he finally called Garmin, the techs were helpful--the plus in his experience. The tech did a program update thru computer that ...

Looks nice but too slow to really use by Steve Garrett "Steve" on amazon.com Jun 25, 2012
I liked the features and bought this unit. Upon receiving it, I was impressed by the user interface and general ease of use as I read through the manual. Then, I went outside to test it, I was discouraged by how long it took to acquire satellites even ...

Antiquated interface and software by Mike on amazon.com Jun 6, 2012
Unfortunately for outdoor enthusiasts, this GPS is about the best option we have when there is no cell coverage. The Oregon 450t does the job, but Garmin has done a terrible job keeping its' software relevant. Lowlights: 1. The unit defaults to line-of-sight ...

Frustratingly non-intuitive, even for an engineer by JBS on amazon.com Apr 18, 2012
If you're not an avid Garmin fan or regular user of this GPS, it may provide endless frustration as you have to relearn all the quirks and non-intuitive screens whenever you pull it out to take a hike. Just as an example: It has a great Trip Computer ...

Worthless device by Kay on amazon.com Jan 17, 2012
What a waste of money! The Oregon 450t looks nice and has a study case, but was a huge disappointment once it was powered up. Device consistently showed a huge error between the position shown on the map and the actual position. Tried it in the city ...

My overall rating is that there is room for improvement, its accessories are very expensive but it is one of the top hiking GPS products compared to others...The quality of the Topo maps is so bad but I couldn't find anything better...The quality of the images is good but if you plan on downloading a lot of them make sure to get the 4GB microSD and some patience...

Overall great unit and I recommend...In only 6 weeks, our 450T's (we own 2 units...the 450T has brought us to over 250 Geocaches...We use a bank of rechargable batteries (Energizer NMHi) and a well cooked set of batteries (2) will last 3/4 of a day of Geocaching for us (so I always carry 4 spare on hand...I purchased the Oregon 450T mainly for the purpose to locate 4 pins on our property in Arizona...

Oregon 450t vs. 550t - Groundspeak Forums
I have seen where a few users claim to see a slight improvement in the 550s over the other Oregons; I just haven't seen it myself but still hoping for that touchscreen breakthrough, maybe OLED...You can always buy the software." I would NEVER recommend buying this model--buy the cheaper model without the pre-loaded maps and then buy the maps seperately...My first impression of using it in bright daylight was not to good...

The Oregon 450t definitely fits the bill...All in all a great GPS for paper-less caching and I highly recommend it to those looking to upgrade...I bought an Oregon 450t, used it on three trips, and am so dissatisfied that I am returning it...However, even if it had worked correctly, I would still recommend the 60csx over the 450t to serious users because of the screen readability and the short lifetime of Garmin touch screens...

GPS Review: Garmin Oregon 450T
Buttons didn't work anymore, it froze and you'd have to take the batteries out to reset the stupid thing, don't recommend those at all...Plugged it into the computer via USB and put an update in it, woke up the next morning and it was stuck in demo mode and wouldn't come out of it...Reception is good, even in the dealership which is a steel building I had full reception...

The instruction manual that comes with the unit is very much lacking in information...Unless you are very familiar with GPS units, I would strongly recommend getting a copy of the book "GPS Made Easy" by Letham and Letham as you will learn more about GPS features than you will from Garmin...Now the same touch-screen technology that makes Garmin's automotive GPS's so easy to use is available in a lightweight, handheld model...
