Great Gps by good on amazon.com May 14, 2012
When I first got the 24k maps with it, I was disappointed until I learned about mytrails which over laps 24k and shows every trail I have ever been on in Colorado. They also turn up in red so they are easy to read. The GPS is easy to use. I have not had ...

Awesome in the field by cindyp2720 on shopnbc.com Apr 28, 2010
We received this last week and took it out in the field geocaching on Sunday. I had no problem reading the display, I had great signal and it directed us to 7 different caches perfectly!

On third unit in less than 5 months-think before buy. by Eileen Valachovic on amazon.com May 8, 2012
This unit was a Christmas present for husband. He didn't use right away. First unit consistently killed one battery. When he finally called Garmin, the techs were helpful--the plus in his experience. The tech did a program update thru computer that ...

Lackluster performance by Andy on newegg.com May 13, 2010
User Interface is very un-refined for a unit of this price caliber. The included street maps showes zig zagged streets for roads that are perfectly straight. Often shows you over 100 feet from a road your standing on. This does not appear to be a GPS ...

Looks nice but too slow to really use by Steve Garrett "Steve" on amazon.com Jun 25, 2012
I liked the features and bought this unit. Upon receiving it, I was impressed by the user interface and general ease of use as I read through the manual. Then, I went outside to test it, I was discouraged by how long it took to acquire satellites even ...

Antiquated interface and software by Mike on amazon.com Jun 6, 2012
Unfortunately for outdoor enthusiasts, this GPS is about the best option we have when there is no cell coverage. The Oregon 450t does the job, but Garmin has done a terrible job keeping its' software relevant. Lowlights: 1. The unit defaults to line-of-sight ...

Frustratingly non-intuitive, even for an engineer by JBS on amazon.com Apr 18, 2012
If you're not an avid Garmin fan or regular user of this GPS, it may provide endless frustration as you have to relearn all the quirks and non-intuitive screens whenever you pull it out to take a hike. Just as an example: It has a great Trip Computer ...

My overall rating is that there is room for improvement, its accessories are very expensive but it is one of the top hiking GPS products compared to others...The quality of the Topo maps is so bad but I couldn't find anything better...The quality of the images is good but if you plan on downloading a lot of them make sure to get the 4GB microSD and some patience...

Oregon 550T as Road Navigator - Garmin Handheld GPS and Fitness GPS Forum
I have played with my Nuvi in the car, just for fun...Screen size is not much different than the 3.5" (non-widescreen) Nuvi's, and when you run on vehicle power it gets much brighter than it does on batteries...Probably makes more sense to have separate units, but it certainly is possible to use the Oregon in your car...

GARMIN Oregon 550t GPS : GPS Navigation | Dell
I upgraded to the 550t, this unit is awsome, I am an freak hunter and always in the woods...As long as you are using the camera for nothing more than to document where you've been for waypoint purposes you'll be happy with the GPS...Not too concerned about this since I didn't buy it for the camera, but for $600 I definitely expected at least what a basic cell phone has...

Garmin Oregon 550t GPS Receiver 753759084363 | eBay
I would recommend this GPS to anyone exploring the outdoors...Garmin did a good job on this unit...Hunting GPS Maps only make their info for certain western states, this makes the Garmin GPS 550t a great marriage of information...Shows much more detail then the map software that comes with the Garmin unit, which makes it iffy for good information as to the info you would like to know about in any given location...

This Garmin 550t is my 5th GPS, all Garmins...Even tho the 550t has 100k topos, and city street detail beyond what is expected, the the unit will not provide street-by-street directions...The lanyard hole for a wrist strap is too small...To say the least, I've spent A LOT on this Garmin Oregon 550t...

Garmin Oregon 550t Handheld GPS Navigator review - Peripheral - Trusted Reviews
Although the list price for the Garmin Oregon 550t is close to £500, we’ve already seen it available for nearer to £300 on a number of retail websites...So if your outdoor activities would benefit from a seamless ability to make a still image record of where you’ve been, the Garmin Oregon 550t is without peer...We have mostly looked at Garmin’s in-car sat-navs here at TrustedReviews...The 550t’s basic specification is very similar to the 300...Thanks to the triple-axis compass, the 550t can be held at any angle and the map should remain correctly oriented with regard to the real world...

Garmin made its name producing recreational rather than car satnavs, and its experience shows in the new Oregon 550T...The only physical control is a power button on the edge...Add in full topographic and street maps (non-routable) of Europe and the wide availability of free OpenStreetMap-based maps, and you have a great package...

Garmin Oregon 550t GPS system review - Pocket-lint
Easy to use, built-in camera, improved screen, more waypoints, more routes...Expensive, screen not totally visible in bright sun...Looking at the Garmin 550t (t standing for topographical maps), you would be forgiven for thinking someone had handed you the previous version...So that's the differences, but if you haven't played with the 400t, what's the 550t actually like...It's certainly good enough to be dropped (we know, we tried) with a hard, but rubberised...

Earning its “t” designation, the 550t model includes detailed, three-dimensional topographical maps, as does the 400t...The Oregons provide a slick, modern interface that is more akin to an iPhone than a traditional hiking unit...These are full-featured units, and based on experience with similar models, they are expected to be very good navigators...
