Awesome unit by WILBUR on amazon.com May 29, 2012
This is a great GPS. Yes there are better on the market but this one does everything I need it to with a good price. This is an upgrade from a Garmin 120. I looked at all the newer units on line (Oregon, Colorado etc...) and this one does everything ...

Good for hiking, canoeing, etc by JM50 on bestbuy.com Sep 22, 2007
The Garmin 76cx and 76csx are very nice handheld GPS receivers with a number of good features. The 76 models are functionally equivalent to the 60cx and 60csx with the main difference being the shape of the case and the position of the buttons. The units ...

Great Fishing Tool by Ryan on amazon.com Jul 19, 2009
This unit was an upgrade from my old Garmin 72. Bought at a great price from Amazon. It picks up signals much better than the 72, even indoors. Purchased this unit for the mapping capability and I was well aware the sd chips need to be purchased seperatly. ...

don't listen to the rookies by where the fish R on amazon.com Mar 16, 2009
the majority of the negative reviews are form people that want a GPS for their car, (rookies). I use mine exclusively for fishing and hunting, and its one of the best I've seen. I bought the topo map chip for the mid-west, and was blown away. it had ...

No Produce Support - No Mac Computer Support by Gary C on amazon.com Jul 1, 2009
Unless you're a big fan of being put on hold for hours at a time I would look for a different GPS from another company. Garmin doesn't care the slightest for their customers once they have their money. Garmin's user manuals, on-line help and phone support are infuriating.

350 mile Trip with the Garmin 76cx is 770 miles by Todd Pierce on amazon.com Aug 10, 2010
I own a Garmin 76cs that I have had since 2004. It does a great job, but cant update maps past 2009 and the receiver is kind of weak in heavy tree cover. So I decided to purchase a new 76cx, which is basically the same unit as the 76cs, with the ability ...

read the reviews about installing maps by Bill Livingston on amazon.com Aug 29, 2008
Before buying read all the review comments about problems installing maps. I ordered this unit a month ago and still can't use it. The map that comes with shows little more detail than Interstate highways. So, I ordered what I thought was City Navigator ...

BOATERS DO NOT BUY!! by David on amazon.com Jul 15, 2008
To say this thing is designed for boaters is as big a joke as a lie!! The included database does not even include the basic outline of local lakes smaller than the Great Lakes. Minnesota - the "land of 10,000 lakes" has been reduced to the land of 2 or ...

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Garmin GPSMAP 76Cx Handheld GPS
Having used a huge number of GPS units over many years, I must say that the 76CX is very good...fair pricing Lots of optionally available maps Garmin support is good including firmware updates that add functionality...Screen could be larger Requires purchase of maps for street level(but this keeps price down, for people who aren't driving with it) Even with car kit unit doesn't talk at all("turn right next" or more recent auto units that pronounce street names)like the NUVI units do...

The Magellan units that support both Meridian and Explorist are not nearly as nice from a hardware, software and firmware point of view...Having used a number of GPS units over many years, the 76CX is very good...I will keep this unit until Garmin comes out with one that talks and pronounces street names as well as all the other functions that the 76 has...

Despite a significant price jump from the GPSMAP 76, Garmin’s GPSMAP 76Cx is a handheld GPS device that offers good value...With a colour screen, USB connectivity and expandable memory, the GPSMAP 76Cx is a decent buy...The GPSMAP 76Cx has the same design as the rest of the GPS 76 range, with the device’s buttons arranged above the display and rather dated styling, making for a somewhat ugly look...An external antenna port means the GPSMAP 76Cx is can be used in areas with sub-par reception...There are a number of benefits that the GPSMAP 76Cx has over the base model, including a 256-colour LCD...
