Have had two jbl subs. the first lasted over a year the secound model#ES250PB started having problems 14 days after I started using it. Product warranty only 1 year for amp. portion of speaker even through it states five. Problem that I'm having is amp turns itself on even with no input signal.

IMHO down firing/ported subs are good/ok for movies where you want the sound to spread all across the room...Front firing non-ported subs are more conducive for music IMHO......and this one does an extreeeeemely good job...I have never tested this at high volume and thats not because I dont want to, but more because I can't:) You gotta respect its sonic capacity!! But hey, bringing down the house is not my idea of good sound and this is where this JBL sub stands out...

good sound at a reasonable price poor quality...It died after only a couple years of weekly use...I would recommend this sub to anyone...
