Magellan 610 GPS by 19Jay54 on amazon.com Jun 21, 2012
I looked at tons of GPS devices before deciding upon this one and while I'm still getting used to it I've got to say that this is a great device. While the device itself is reasonably intuitive I would definitely recommend that you download the owners ...

Great tool for geocaching and even driving!! by L. Clark "video game mom" on amazon.com May 14, 2012
Since getting this GPSr, I have installed the street maps and even use this as my driving GPSr. It doesn't lock up and gets me right on target to GZ. There are so many features, I am still learning them all!!

best handheld gps out therefor outdoors by Charles Cox on amazon.com Feb 11, 2012
I own three other GPS units besides the Magellan Explorist 610. The Explorist is BY FAR the best unit for any serious outdoors person that has a need for a GPS. I hunt elk in mountains of Colorado and the 610 has several features that can be extreemly ...

An excellent geocaching tool by Chris Swanson "I'm just this guy, you know?" on amazon.com Apr 8, 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this? ) I do geocaching. I don't do it often, but I do enjoy it when I have the chance. This little device is a great GPS for geocaching. It's light, it's easy to use and has a good screen ...

Love this for geocaching and others by ambianceforce on amazon.com Feb 7, 2012
OK, got this last week and used it for geocaching this weekend. It works great. It took me a little bit to update to the newest firmware, get the Vantage Point software and figure out the GPX download and import functions but it wasn't too much and reminded ...

Not meant for serious users... by Mike A. on amazon.com May 15, 2012
This feature packed GPS has all the promise of a great unit and occasionally even delivers on that promise. However, the cons seriously outweigh the pros: First, it eats batteries like a kid eating popcorn. It is obvious that the design engineer didn't ...

Magellan eXplorist 610 by Carlton W. Burgess on amazon.com Jan 3, 2012
This was purchased for my wife for Christmas because she wanted one as she hikes with people who have them. She wanted the Track Summary with miles traveled and the altitude change. It has worked a ew times and that was nice. She learned to use it around ...

Would you buy a car that wouldn't start?? by Matt Zacher on amazon.com Jan 11, 2011
Out of the box was 15 miles off on our position, according to our old trusty Garmin 12. Was correct on the map, but coords were way off. Tech support was slow, and obviously not American. Offered to replace unit for free, but for $400, it really should ...

Disappointing More Than Decent by Craig on amazon.com Mar 10, 2012
I purchased this to use for biological field work--I have to navigate to areas in the desert, keep track of my route, and send that information back to my employer. I was swayed by the inclusion of video and photo directly on the unit, believing that ...

Big dissapointment by Penelope McQuarrie "Suzanne Roberson" on amazon.com May 9, 2011
We geocache and wanted to upgrade so choose the Magellan explorist 610. It had everything we wanted in a GPS. The down side was it was so difficult to use the touch screen. Both of us tried to use the 'convient' touch screen but it needs a newborns finger ...

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Magellan eXplorist 610 Waterproof Hiking GPS
The alloy frame has a good feel vs the plastic on the eXplorist...It looks a good bit more crisp and clear than the Garmin and seems as readable in direct sunlight...Bottom line is lithium batteries are the best bet when you need max run time and don't want to carry extra batteries, but eneloops work fine for a full day outing assuming the unit is in suspend mode most of the time, otherwise carry an extra set...

Magellan eXplorist 610 GPS review | ITReviews
The software is fully-featured and the build quality is great....The slow processor can become frustrating when you're quickly switching modes or calculating a route....With high-end GPS capabilities and a 3in touchscreen display, the Magellan eXplorist 610 is one of a new breed of satellite navigation devices designed to go where smartphones fear to tread...But there's a lot to be said for a standalone device like the eXplorist 610...Its false-perspective...
