Sony HDRCX580V by Jason O Mcroberts on amazon.com Jul 9, 2012
I shoot video in various settings and for the money this camcorder does amazing. With or without an external mic this camera does a very good job at picking up sound even in windy outdoor situations. I believe the only way you could get better quality ...

Great camera overall by kellyj123 on bestbuy.com Jun 20, 2012
Love this camera, had a panasonic and was never able to record anything longer than 10 minutes, went through many batteries. I have only charged this once and have the extended battery and it lasted through an hour long graduation plus other activities!! ...

Great performer by Eugene157 on cnet.com Jun 26, 2012
I cannot let the above misleading or misinformed review by IFLYMAUI stand. My previous Canon HG21 was replaced by the CX580v. The now over two year old HG21 was one of the best semipro cameras available at the time. The 580 passes it with flying colors ...

Delivered everything expected by Molt_llest on amazon.com Jun 2, 2012
I bought the camera for two main reasons: I wanted a wide lens camera to be able to tape my kids at home, which mean from a close range, and I wanted a good shaking stabilizer. The camera delivered both things greatly. Also, it is small, image quality ...

An excellent 2nd camera by PhotoMac on bestbuy.com May 3, 2012
This is a great camera for capturing B-Roll when shooting the main camera in HD. Downloading straight to Final Cut Pro or iMovie is a breeze. The Golf Swing swing sequence is invaluable to the avid golfer. The biggest thrill is the 20 megapixel still ...

Terrible Low Light Quality by David on newegg.com May 28, 2012
Sony took away alot of features this year compared to last years HDR-CX560v. They put in a smaller sensor 1/3 compared to last years 1/2.88. They also removed the manual dial and night shot. There is no control over iris, shutter, focus and AE Shift.. ...

A step backward for Sony. by sdd_84 on amazon.com May 15, 2012
I had this for 2 Months and I have to say the picture quality is Great as long as there is bright lighting. In dim (Indoor) conditions the quality gets very grainy, almost unusable. Sony should have went with a bigger sensor for the price this year. Last ...

Not a wise choice. Expensive. Sub-substandard. by IFLYMAUI on cnet.com Mar 1, 2012
Not a valid or wise choice at $799. Avoid.

Very poor low light. by David Weaver on amazon.com May 15, 2012
The low light quality on this camcorder is very poor, indoor with normal lighting gets grainy fast. Sony took away alot of the features compared to last years model the CX560v. I would not recommend this to anyone..

Camcorder is fine/Support software is useless by P. Anderson on amazon.com Apr 28, 2012
I'll cut right to the problem. The internal 32Gb of flash memory will hold around 4 hours of video (at high quality). After that you will want to put your videos on disc to make room. You have two choices. Either buy a dedicated disc burner, or install ...

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Sony HDRCX580V High Definition Handycam 20.4 MP Camcorder...
Our wall is painted a medium brown color and it still looked good...Sound is pretty much what you'd expect from a pair of small speakers, sort of tinny, but it was pretty loud and definitely good enough to sit around and listen to our home movies...I played the video in both windows media player and in the Home Memories software and both looked really good! Overall my initial impressions are very good...

Manual settings available, Sony picture quality, decent sound Optical Zoom only 12x though sharp up to 20x Excellent picture quality in all HD modes but best is 1920x1080/60p...Ive had no issues so for and the battery life seems to be good to...The biggest thrill is the 20 megapixel still photo capability which produces stunning images at 1920X1080 HD which can be added to you video production without resizing the image in Photoshop...

Sony Handycam HDR-CX580V - Compare prices reviews user opinions - Shopper.com
I cannot let the above misleading or misinformed review by IFLYMAUI stand...The steady cam feature is downright amazing, I can walk at a good clip and the video looks like the camera was suspended on a balloon, looks almost eerie...Further the audio is very good and the wind suppression is at least 20DB (very good) and on a par with a microphone covered with a "dead cat" wind suppressor that I own.I only use two channel audio, 5.1 is overkill...
