Great Receiver without all the bells and whistles of more expensive receivers by cato on amazon.com Nov 30, 2011
I have got to love Yamaha products and this is the best Receiver I have ever had (I have owned a Yamaha HTR and a Samsung). I think the main reason you will find it at almost half the price on the web is because it lacks internet connectivity and air ...

Almost a perfect receiver by jellis86 on newegg.com Nov 19, 2011
When I switch to my TIVO Premier HDMI input, the receiver defaults to another input. In my case it is an analog input (AV4). I have tried 3 HDMI inputs with the same result. Does not occur with the blu ray or ROKU HDMI inputs. Maybe something in the TIVO ...

Yamaha Receiver RX-A800 by Raymond Bagnani on vanns.com Oct 11, 2011
I replaced my RX-1400 receiver with the RX-A800 Yamaha, Ive always owned Yamaha, they are very user friendly. The newer model for blu ray sounds so clean and clear. The older model bumps louder, but not as clear.I also like the pass through, with the HDMI ...

Everything but the Kitchen Sink by Roger on crutchfield.com Sep 21, 2010
My old receiver bit the dust after years of great service. Guess nothing lasts forever. During my research I decided that the new receiver should be wife friendly, have great surround sound, reduce the number of cables to operate the system, have an Ipod ...

Nice unreliable receiver by D. Thompson "Don" on amazon.com May 20, 2012
I bought the receiver in December and love all of the features and especially the HD Tuner. But......In the 5 months I bought the receiver it has spent almost 3 months in the Yamaha repair shop being fixed twice. I still don't have it back.

Be careful! It is discounted for a reason! by eesnijder on newegg.com Dec 9, 2011
I am using the firmware that came with the unit. Although many have suggested that a firmware update will solve a lot of problems, it states in the manual (online, of course) that my firmware version does *not* require updating. Well, I have endured ...

This is one to skip by Brooklynboy on newegg.com May 20, 2011

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Yamaha RX-A800 7.1-Channel Audio/Video Receiver (Black)
Really good price compared to other units (including other Yamaha's!) -Works well with Harmony One remote "Dislikes": -I know this is reaching, but I think there are too many different sound-modes...I can tell the power difference, Running 7 klipsch reference speakers, but not too bad...The only gripe I have, and I do reluctantly because I never understood why someone would complain about this if the product was good, but the manual is very difficult to find anything...

Newegg.com - YAMAHA RX-A800 7.2-Channel AVENTAGE Series A/V Receiver
plenty of HDMI input Dual HDMI output low power consumption on HDMI pass-through Sound quality feels like similiar or less than low-end receiver...I will report back on whether is did any good...A few second lag time between hearing and seeing the TV (when first turning it on)but it is so short it is not a bad thing adding more speakers to it as I only have two hooked up to it...

Yamaha RX-A800 7.2-channel AVENTAGE 3D home theater receiver | Vanns.com
I LOVE this receiver! Super easy to set up and the YPAO microphone takes the guesswork out of fine tuning your surround sound speakers...I,truly enjoy my sound system,I also have a good speaker system, in which it really sounds awsome, great investment for home theater.Remember, sound is the soul of a movie...If you are in search of great natural sound, great OSD GUI, and is just plain fun to use, I find it easy to recommend the Yamaha Aventage series of AVRs...

I am in between the new Yamaha Aventage A-800 and the A-1000 which should I choose?...
They are identical minus the power 105W x 7 for the A-1000 and 95W x 7 for the A-800...Based on that, the A-800 would do fine for me...I have been a Yamaha guy for some time but recently went with a Onkyo TX-SR608 and love it...Convenient YPAO sound setup with Reflected Sound Control for great sound regardless of speaker placement...

Migrating from Yamaha RX V795 to RX A800
Any suggestions on what is a good option for rear surround speakers, even wireless if they still exist...2-3 feet from the rears to the centre of your soft should work fine - but this is why I'm recommending dipole speakers, so that the sound doesn't hit you directly but in a rather more dispersed manner...Otherwise, you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect from legitimate magazine reviews - but be careful of just online reviews as some of them aren't exactly honest...
