;My factory car audio is much better, THX certified. I am trying to work this out with dealer and Yamaha. Only hope for this unit is it being defective. I gave Yamaha a try because of claims the user interface is better than Pio-n-eer, which was very poor on my last unit, but superb audio.

Every Yamaha receiver I have owned is still in good working order as of this writing, 10/10/11...I don't think we properly appreciate how good we've got it! At my age (54) I clearly remember the primitive black & white TV's I grew up with that nevertheless held my fascination for hour after brain-rotting hour...If you're just looking at getting started, don't have an extravagant AV setup, and want something that sounds good and is future proof for a reasonable price I couldn't find a better way to go than with this receiver...

Spent a good hour spinning my wheels to figure that one out...You could argue this is more "green" but I doubt much is really saved, and it makes reading the otherwise good manual much more of a hassle...Once i figure out my issue (see Cons) then all was good...
