After having my BR12's for a few months, I had the opportunity to trade up to the SM12V's. Immediately noticed improved clarity on the highs and a fuller low end. The BR12's were good, these are great! These are matched with a Yamaha EMX312sc mixer, and ...

I?ve been through plenty of peavey, Behringer, and Yamaha speakers and these seem to sound the best. The quality is nearly perfect and the sound is crystal clear. I would highly recommend spending the $ on this superb floor monitor.

I have owned one of this for personal use in a band and for the garage (5yrs) and it produces a high quality sound. Better sound can be had by paying a lot more but in their price range they are the best. Yamaha brand quality.

I have a CR-66II, which as far as I can see is a black faced CR-420...It's near perfect except all the lights were out, so I replaced them all with 12V 60mA bulbs, as some have recommended here for other Yamaha receivers...The Yamaha web site has the CR-420 manual with a schematic in it, and 12v 60mA is correct...

Power Amp for Yamaha 12" Club Monitors (SM12V)
But the general recommendation is to use somewhere between the RMS/continuous/noise rating and the program rating, depending on the level of experience and the need for excessive power...200 - 300 watts is all I would recommend, no more than that...the 12" clubs arent bad, you may find they have a bump (more of a LUMP) about 400hz or so...

In addition, flip the trigger switch on the back panel of the Rotel...Step 1 is going to be to verify 12v is present on the plug you are plugging into the amp when the receiver is on...I guess plugging the power cord of the Rotel directly into the receiver is not a good idea...
