Better than Bose by Michael D. Madsen on amazon.com Jun 3, 2012
Okay, so here is all you need to know: it has an amazing bass control, no muddy sounds and has plenty of power for any room up to large living rooms. The controls are adequate and the sound is quality to the bone. I have had this thing for probably ...

Amazing sound! by N/A on newegg.com May 18, 2012
Running this sub with Polk Audio RTi8 fronts, CSi A6 center, RTi A3 surrounds and a BIC America FH-6 LCR for back surround on a Yamaha RX-V765. Love this Yamaha SW315. I consider it the second best buy I have ever made for Home Theater with only the CSi A6 center beating it out.

Excellent sub for a relatively low price by Stevo5052 on dell.com Nov 3, 2010
This is an excellent sub for it's price. It could have been even higher priced and I would still say it is an excellent sub. I have a YST-SW45 (8" sub at around 70 watts max I think) and it would make the windows in the house rattle (in a bad way), this ...

Great Subwoofer by Nite PHX on abesofmaine.com Jul 7, 2010
I've had the SW315 for a few years now and just purchased another one for my boss hence the timing of this review. First off if your receiver/stereo/amp has a dedicated subwoofer out connection I would recommend getting a subwoofer cable to make the connection. ...

This one is a solid performer. I own a yamaha receiver and had a tough time finding a good sub that can handle the LFE output i wanted. This one gives solid bass with no distortion, low frequency lows are well felt. I've tryed other subs finding that ...

Poor reliability, even worse customer service! by P. Breakfield IV "Tom Steele" on amazon.com May 27, 2012
Reliability issues and Yamaha support is non-existant. I have been through two of these now and I really liked the way they sound, but due to poor build quality and Yamaha's complete indifference and lack of customer service, I will never buy anything ...

Yamaha YST-SW315 by John R. on vanns.com Mar 10, 2006
I went by the reviews here and disagree. It looks good and product discription sounds good. Had a Sony PSW 250 159 rms watt 12 inch speaker that clearly blows this one away. Better than no subwoofer but its watt rating of 270 is dynamic not RMS and you can well hear the differance.

Better than average powered subwoofer by blowery98 on cnet.com Feb 1, 2011
I have two of these because i found them on clearance at hh-gregg at such a low price i couldn't pass up. They sound good and are probably more than good enough for your normal home theater center. Mine isnt normal. i like to be able to turn up a little. ...

Defectuve unit returned by William Sonstrom on amazon.com Feb 16, 2012
Auto On feature essentially didn't work. Came on a few times, but usually didn't. I tried a variety of digitally recorded CDs with significant bass. Tried various settings. Nothing helped. After 3 weeks of frustration, returned product. (Hooked up ...

If you want a sub that hits good and doesn't sound like it is ready to fly apart, can be infinitely adjusted and just fills the room with low end, this is for you...Good feature set for the money...As far as subs go, this one is quite "musical" i.e., audiophiles use the term to describe good dynamic range and response rather than thump thump thump None really...

I have a Bose 901 Series V pair that I'm using for a couple of years...I searched for a good sub for a long time that would get along with the 901's, because I always liked the 901's, they are the best in recreating the sound stage and mid to height frequencies...Try different loactions in the room to get the best bass......

I was in college at the time when I purchased this Yamaha and $300 for a subwoofer that got decent reviews seemed good...250 watts with the "ability" to hit 20hz sounded really good on paper...I listen to everything from rock to techno, bass heavy trance to hard hitting rap, high pitched pop to easy listening jazz, and for good measure some Latin flamenco guitar and collegiate a capella...

Consumer Guide: Yamaha YST-SW315 Review
Yamaha's YST-SW315 is a very solid performer, with a sound that is full and strong, yet very accurate...Unlike many subwoofers, the YST-SW315 is magnetically shielded, letting it be placed close to a television monitor...The ten-inch long-throw driver is mounted in a downward firing configuration that provides an efficient use of power...The YST-SW315 has an automatic on/off mode, turning the unit on when audio is detected and turning it off after a certain period of time with no signal...
